panda party

I had the bright idea of having a panda party for Aiden's 3rd birthday.  Not a Kung Fu Panda party...just a panda party.  And let me tell you, birthday party supplies for kids seem to be all somehow movie-theme related.  So it was up to Lisa and I to create our own panda soiree.  I think we were most definitely going through wedding planning withdrawals at the time.

There were balloons...

There was food. Some homemade {think fried rice} and some not-so homemade.

Mommy made the cupcakes.  Fit for a panda party.

We even had panda chopsticks. Straight from China.

There was playing with friends.

There were pandas just hanging out cleverly made by Lisa.

And there were gifts galore.  Some not endorsed by the recipient's grandfather however {umm, there is nothing wrong with teaching a boy how to use a vacuum at a young age}.

Just say no to crack.

Fun, fun day thanks to our friends and family!

first halloween {2010}

This time last year {2009}, we were in China.  Still.  So this was Aiden's first time trick-or-treating.

Getting ready for the big night.

Cool how the 2 pictures of above look like they are one continuous picture.  Anyway, I digress...
Thinking about his role as a pirate.

All ready to go.

And we're off!

Resting already.  We have only made it to the first driveway so far at this point.  And they didn't even have their lights on.  Dude...what is up with that???
Back on track now.

Leaving the first house.  Score!

On to the next house for more loot.  Or is it bounty if you are a pirate?

All in all, Aiden had fun and our neighbors {the few that actually had their lights on} were very generous and gave him a vast amount of their candy supply.  There was only one other kid going door to door in the neighborhood.  It was certainly a poor turnout this year - maybe because it was a Sunday night.  Or maybe they were afraid of my boy and his sword!

back

...by popular demand {and by that, I mean my dad}.  At least I know for certain I have one loyal nagger follower.  Maybe two if my Aunt Carol is still checking my blog to see if I have posted anything lately. Or ever.

I'll post some pictures to show you what we've been up to the past {ahem} eight monthsJust don't expect it all in one post 'cuz that would be like, alot of work.  Aiden has been busy...mostly growing like a weed.  The boy is getting tall and is making such progress in so many wonderful ways.  More about that as we go on.

The next post will start with last Halloween.  Yes...Halloween.  Nothing like the HOT month of June to get you in the spirit of Halloween.  Yes, you can thank me later.  :)

heartbreaking

No child should ever have to die alone.  Without a family to hold them as they leave this earth.

147 million orphans without a family.  Truly heartbreaking.
